Originally it passed along the streets of Palma, but in 1931 the 914 mm gauge FFCC de
Mallorca rerouted the docks branch through a tunnel beneath the city's cathedral. The
line had, for Spain, a comparatively short life of thirty-six years, in contrast to the steam
locomotives used on it. About to disappear into the tunnel is one of two 0-6-0 side-
tanks, either 4 Menacor or 5 Felantix, Nasmyth Wilson 188 and 189 of 1876. Active for
over eighty years, they were not finally cut up until about 1963.
